Who's Behind This Amazing Coffee?

 

At Blackboard Coffee, we’re passionate about sourcing from farmers who share our love for exceptional coffee. This brew showcases a variety of smallholder farmers of Timor-Leste. Together with NGOs and local initiatives, these farmers are making strides in quality and sustainability, ensuring every cup of Natural Timor-Leste supports their thriving communities.

 

 

The Varietal

 

The Timor varietal flourishes at the high altitudes of Aileu, between 1,550 and 1,600 meters above sea level. Grown under the shade of casuarina trees, this varietal benefits from the ideal conditions of the region, resulting in beans with a distinctive flavour profile marked by fruit-forward notes and a velvety smoothness.

 

 

The Process

 

The journey of Natural Timor-Leste starts with meticulous hand-picking of ripe, red cherries. These are then transported to a mill in Gleno, where they are sun-dried over 18 to 22 days. The cherries are carefully raked to ensure even drying, which preserves their vibrant and complex flavours. This natural processing method enhances the coffee's inherent sweetness and depth, making every sip a testament to the dedication of its producers.
