Check Out The Farm

After spending about 15 years working with Cenfrocafe, one of Peru’s largest and most respected cooperatives, Maximiliano García and Esperanza Armijos decided to start their own farm in 2018. Together, they built Café Garmas, a name that combines their family names (García and Armijos) and reflects their equal partnership.

Both share every responsibility on the farm, managing production side by side with a strong focus on quality, sustainability, and family values.

At Café Garmas, they cultivate varieties such as Geisha, Bourbon, Parainema, L9, and Yellow Caturra. Their dedication and the unique conditions of their remote location consistently produce 86+ scoring coffees.

The farm, perched high in northern Peru near the Ecuadorian border, is difficult to reach but rewards the effort with stunning landscapes and extraordinary coffee. The hotter, more arid climate contributes to distinctive flavour profiles that make this region’s coffees truly stand out.

Coffee Processing Method:

After careful hand-picking, the coffee is taken to the farm where it is pulped and fermented in lime-washed tanks.

Fermentation is closely monitored to bring out the coffee’s best qualities. Once complete, the beans are dried in thin layers on tarps, with regular raking to ensure even drying and consistent moisture levels throughout the process.
