CAFE PARTNERS: Mark Daniels

We’re dedicated to delivering good coffee to good people both locally and globally. This week we sat down with one of the best bakers the Gold Coast has to offer.

Firstly, what’s your go-to coffee?
Probably a flat white, although it’s hard to beat an iced latte on a hot day
Tell us a little bit about yourself and how the cafe came to be?

For my 18th birthdays my parents booked me a short course with Savour patisserie school. It was amazing and I knew that I wanted to be a pastry chef. I started learning all I could and set up a small wholesale business from home. From there I started doing markets and was approached to come and open a shop in Robina.

When did you open?

The shop was opened in November 2016.

Why Blackboard Coffee?

I first found out about Blackboard from our head barista. He loved it so I got onto Nick and the team. Not only did they make great coffee but they also gave us such great support and training.

What is the best part about owning & operating Mark Daniels?

The best part of my job is eating our food and coffee! What I really love is seeing other people enjoy what I’ve made.

What are your passions outside of coffee?

I have to say my main passion is baking but outside of work it’s football both to play and watch. I work quite a lot but when I do get time I like to spend it in Broadbeach going to the beach and all the restaurants and cafes there.

Lastly, If you could invite one person for a coffee who would it be and why?

I would invite Kirsten Tibballs. She was the one who initially trained me. I would love to invite her to my shop to see how far I’ve come.
