Who’s Behind This Amazing Coffee?
Kamvara Estate is owned and managed by Grace Njoki Njage, who has been at the helm since 2009 after taking up the helm from her late husband. Situated at 1,650 to 1,750 MASL, the estate benefits from ideal growing conditions that produce sweet, dense cherry flavours. Grace’s dedication and care have upheld Kamvara’s reputation as a producer of exceptional specialty coffee.
The Process
Kamvara Estate takes meticulous care in processing its coffee. After selectively handpicking only the ripest cherries, the coffee is pulped using a disc pulper. The beans undergo dry fermentation for 16–24 hours, followed by a 24-hour soak in clean water. Finally, the wet parchment is carefully dried on raised beds for 2–3 weeks, ensuring consistency and quality in every bean.
Kamvara estate has stringent sorting practices ensuring only the best cherries are processed. AA-grade coffees, like this one, represent the largest and highest-quality beans, renowned for their complexity and clarity of flavour.
The Region
Embu County, located on the southeastern slopes of Mount Kenya, is renowned for its deep red volcanic soils and high elevations, ranging from 1,200 to 1,800 meters above sea level. These conditions, coupled with moderate temperatures and ample rainfall, create an ideal environment for coffee cultivation. Coffee from this region are celebrated for their complex flavour profiles, often featuring notes of dark fruits, berries, and balanced citrus acidity.
Kenya Kamvara SL28 SL34 Fully Washed is a testament to the country’s commitment to excellence and the incredible dedication of producers like Grace Njoki Njage.
