The Varietal

The Caturra comes from Pitalito in the Huila region, and it’s a perfect example of top-notch coffee. Grown between 1700 and 1900 meters above sea level, this region’s high altitude creates the ideal conditions for producing high-quality beans. Lohas Beans have curated tended to this varietal in order to bring out some truly unique flavours, making this coffee stand out with its distinctive profile.

The Process

Caturra Washed goes through a pretty cool 3-step process to bring out its amazing flavour. First, the cherries are washed and cleaned as soon as they arrive at the processing station. This step removes any green beans, leaves, stems, and dirt, making sure only the best cherries are used.

Next, the cherries go through a 24-hour oxidation process, which helps develop those rich flavours. This allows the natural enzymes in the cherries to work their magic and bring out more aromatic notes. After that, the beans are de-pulped, then rinsed to remove the mucilage, which gives the coffee that clean, crisp taste.

Finally, the beans are dried in a controlled way, ensuring they stay stable and maintain that high-quality flavour. This drying method helps the coffee keep its complexity and consistency, giving it the unique cup profile that makes the Caturra Washed stand out. It’s a real favourite for coffee lovers who appreciate something special.
