Coffee Servers & Carafes

A reliable coffee server is the essential companion for any manual brewing setup, built to catch, hold, and serve your filter coffee at the optimal temperature. Our range features heat-resistant borosilicate glass and double-walled insulated carafes that pair seamlessly with popular pour-over drippers and manual brewers. Having a dedicated vessel not only maintains the thermal stability of your brew, but provides the necessary headspace to swirl and aerate your coffee, ensuring a balanced, tasty cup every time you pour.

The Physics of Coffee Servers and Decanters

Using a dedicated coffee carafe is a functional necessity for manual brewing methods like the V60 or Kalita Wave. When brewing directly into a mug, the coffee stratifies, the heavier, denser dissolved solids sink to the bottom, while the lighter, more acidic compounds sit at the top. A server with a wide base allows you to aggressively swirl the brew post-extraction, homogenising the liquid to ensure a uniform flavour profile from the first sip to the last.

Thermal Dynamics & Material Specifications

The material of your server dictates how well your brew retains its temperature and volatile aromatic compounds.

  • Borosilicate glass is built for immediate serving. It cools quickly but safely handles sudden spikes up to 120°C without fracturing, and its epic visual clarity lets you assess your brew before pouring.
  • For slow sippers, vacuum insulated steel is your best mate. It locks heat in, keeping your tasty brew above 60°C for up to 4 hours, perfect for outdoor brewing or batching a big morning filter.
  • Ceramic offers a medium thermal mass. Give it a boiling water flush to pre-warm it to at least 90°C, and it will beautifully hold the heat while you share a cup with good people.

Sizing and Volumetric Yields

Selecting the correct volume ensures proper dripper fit and sufficient aeration space. Never fill a server to its absolute maximum capacity, as this eliminates the headspace required for swirling.

  • 300ml - 400ml Servers (Size 01): Optimised for single-serve brewing. Ideal for a standard 15g coffee to 250ml water recipe, leaving 50-150ml of headspace for aeration.
  • 600ml - 700ml Servers (Size 02): The industry standard for brewing two cups. Designed to accommodate a 30g coffee to 500ml water recipe. The opening diameter (typically around 75mm - 85mm) fits all standard size 02 pour-over drippers and the AeroPress base.
  • 800ml+ Servers (Size 03): Built for batch brewing or serving three to four people. Requires a larger size 03 dripper to match the brewing volume.

Coffee Servers & Carafes FAQ

No. While borosilicate glass is highly resistant to thermal shock from boiling water (up to120°C), it is not designed for direct exposure to a naked flame, induction pad, or electric stovetop coil. Doing so will cause the glass to fracture.

For a standard two cup recipe yielding roughly 500ml of brewed coffee, you need a 600ml size 02 server. This provides enough capacity to hold the liquid while leaving 100ml of empty space to safely swirl the coffee before pouring.

Yes, standard 600ml glass servers typically have an opening diameter of 75mm to 85mm, which easily accommodates the hexagonal base of an AeroPress or Delter Press. However, press down gently to avoid applying excessive downward force on the glass rim.
