Check Out The Farm

Porfirio Martinez grows Caturra and San Ramon on his farm, Finca El Senegal, in La Libertad, Huehuetenango. He works with the Vides family at Vides58 to export his coffee. The story goes back to 1958, when Jorge Vides bought his first farm while also working full time as a doctor. He treated patients during the week and spent the rest of his time on the farm. He later became director of the National Hospital of Huehuetenango, which now carries his name.

Jorge also founded a school on the farm in 1980, still active today. Vides58 continues his community work through a program with Association Coffee Care, supporting children and reducing child labour.
