Meet the Producer behind this Coffee

This coffee comes from the Asman Gayo mill in Sumatra’s famous Aceh region. It is run by Asman Arianto, a Cup of Excellence winner who works with small growers from the Pantan Musara villages. After being displaced by a natural disaster years ago, these families have rebuilt their lives with a fresh focus on quality coffee. Unlike most places in Sumatra, Asman’s mill produces washed and natural lots, showing a real dedication to doing things differently.

About the Coffee Processing Method

Washed coffees are a rare find in Sumatra. Because the island is so humid and cloudy, most producers use different methods, making a lot like this quite special. The cherries are delivered fresh to a central mill to be depulped and fermented in open tanks for thirty six hours. This process results in a much cleaner and brighter cup than you might usually expect from the region.
