Meet the newest addition to the Blackboard Family, Brewed On Cuthbert in Yatala. The mother-daughter duo have been in the hospitality industry for years but wanted to branch out and create something they felt was theirs. For this series we sat down with them to learn where their passion for good coffee and service began.
Firstly, what’s your go-to coffee?
Ash is a Long Black with an extra or sometimes 2 extra shots & Alison is a Long Black with a dash of milk.
Tell us a little bit about yourself and how the cafe came to be?
We are a mother daughter team who is passionate about food and coffee. We had previously been in the cafe industry under a franchise, however wanted to have some more freedom with our menu choices and supply our favourite Coffee beans.
Why did you choose Blackboard Coffee?
Mum and I would cafe hop our way around the Gold Coast and couldn't pass up Blackboards in Varsity. It was by far the best coffee for us.
What are your passions outside of coffee?
Food and travel always.
If someone were to visit Yatala, what are the hidden gems around your area?
The Stanmore park motorcross track is a fun day out and for when the sun goes down the Yatala movie theatre drive in!
Lastly, If you could invite one person for a coffee who would it be and why?
I would like to invite Kochie just to pick apart his financial brain.
