Who’s Behind This Amazing Coffee?

Bona Zuria Washing Station is a key player in Ethiopia’s emerging high-quality coffee production. Located in the Bensa zone of Sidamo, this station sources cherries from local smallholder farmers, many of whom cultivate coffee on plots averaging five hectares. Thanks to the region’s high altitude, traditional farming methods, and diverse heirloom varieties, Bona Zuria has quickly built a reputation for producing exceptional specialty lots.

The Process

Careful processing is at the heart of this coffee’s outstanding clarity and complexity. After selective handpicking, cherries are delivered to the Bona Zuria station, where they undergo meticulous sorting before pulping. The coffee is then fermented, washed in clean water, and slowly dried on raised beds. This careful post-harvest process enhances the coffee’s vibrant acidity and intricate flavour profile, ensuring each cup is a true representation of Sidamo’s best.

The Region

Sidamo is one of Ethiopia’s most celebrated coffee regions, known for its vast range of microclimates and high altitudes. The Bensa zone, where Bona Zuria is located, shares the same highland terrain as the famed Bombe region. The area’s combination of nutrient-rich soil, ample rainfall, and traditional farming techniques produces coffee that are intensely aromatic, complex, and vibrant.

Sidamo & Ethiopia’s coffee heritage is built on its genetic diversity - a multitude of local landrace varieties thrive in this environment, contributing to the coffee’s distinctive floral and fruit-driven profile. These natural advantages, combined with expert processing, result in a cup that embodies the very best of Ethiopian coffee.

Ethiopia Bona Zuria JARC Fully Washed is a stunning representation of the region’s quality and diversity. We can’t wait for you to experience this beautiful filter coffee!
